Santa Fe

Should I be hotter or colder?
This Alabama weather has got me feeling bipolar.
Reflection's looking better when I'm staring in the rearview mirror.
For 21 years my home's been the South
But my heart begs to differ, this state's just a house
I've been plotting out a new route, but leaving just got so dragged out.
Don't call it running away, it's the search for something more.
It's finding the place to stay -
I'm not running away, just searching for something more to live for
Out in Santa Fe.
Maybe out in Santa Fe, there's a place in the desert for my head to lay.
A blanket from Seattle that's composed of rain,
I'll sleep away the pain and wake up in L.A.
Should I be hotter or colder?
Or set aside my plans until we're much older.
My body gives out, but my will is bolder.
Bury me in Santa Fe is what I told her.
Don't call it running away, it's the search for something more.
It's finding the place to stay -
I'm not running away, just searching for something more to live for
Out in Santa Fe.
I'm just searching for more to live for.

Doubt

How do I figure it out?
I'm held back by all this doubt inside my head.
I'll set this fear aside,
Choke back on my own pride.
Find the words to hide behind.
How do I figure it out?
Trying to cut ties with all this doubt inside my head.
Every word I've sang and note that I've played has been said and done before. There's a thousand starving artists with their hearts stitched on their sleeve - and they're crowding the streets, so let me take this opportunity to say my piece, to make my case. I swear I won't waste your time.
How do I figure it out?
Inside my head.

Dreamstate

We slowed down to stop
Then we slammed on the brakes
The car began to shake.
The road that we took,
It was really just a fake.
Confused it for fate
The car began to shake.
I can't have you while I'm awake.
I still see you in a dreamstate.
Shortcuts seem convenient
When you think you're running late
I'd trade them for the late night drives
In that small town we hate
I can't have you while I'm awake.
I still see you in a dreamstate.
That's all you'll ever be - just another lucid dream.

Inside

You play these silent games
Masquerade as everything you hate
The day-to-day is so worn out
You think you'd rather stay
Inside
You let your number replace your name
Perpetuate the whole charade
And with nobody else to blame
You want to change but stay the same
Inside
Inside's the place where you try hard to breathe again
Forget the fact there's no happy ending
Happy ending
